Personalized Learning

The CALL for Personalized Learning survey (CALL PL) has been developed specifically to evaluate eight key practices of personalized learning. CALL PL asks educators and leaders questions that evaluate the level of student choice and personalization.  Upon completion, teachers receive individualized formative feedback, leaders get school and district level reports.

What is CALL PL?

  • A school and district wide evaluation and feedback system for practices of personalized learning.
  • CALL PL provides individual-level data to teachers, and it provides school- and district-level data to leaders.
  • CALL PL begins with a comprehensive survey activity for teachers, instructional support staff, and school administrators.
  • The CALL PL system provides data and guidance for classroom, school, and district improvement planning.

Why use CALL PL?

Technology can increase the capacity of schools, especially in terms of differentiation and engaging student interests, or it can provide marginal gains in existing systems.  Becoming more equitable requires that teachers and leaders change their practices to personalize teaching and learning, especially in the time of emergency remote schooling.

In addition, CALL PL:

  • Provides an opportunity to assess the effectiveness and opportunities for growth in practices of personalized learning, whether in person, remote or blended.
  • Provides an opportunity to compare data about practices with outcome data in order to leverage the highest impact practices.
  • Provides data to center conversations on teaching practice, a proven method of improving schools.
  • Provides an opportunity to collect data for school improvement during a time in which data-collection is challenging.
  • Given the online functionality, provides an opportunity to engage with the CALL PL survey activity anywhere.
  • Gives individual users (teachers, administrators, and instructional support staff) the ability to view results immediately after survey administration to identify areas of strength and improvement needs.
